Hi! I’m Cory, a content marketer and editorial storyteller based in Brooklyn.
I’m currently the content marketing manager at Codecademy, an online platform where people learn how to code. I made the move to content marketing, copywriting, and UX content design in 2022, after spending over a decade working in print and digital media as a journalist and editor.
Most recently in journalism, I was a health reporter for CNBC’s Make It, where I won NBC Universal’s Going the Extra Mile Award for my Covid-19 coverage. Before that, I was a health and sex writer at Refinery29. I also held staff editorial positions at Good Housekeeping and Women’s Health. I’ve written extensively about dance and health for Dance Magazine, Pointe Magazine, and Dance Teacher.
My background in dance and media led me to co-produce two documentaries about ballet. Ten Times Better, available to stream on PBS American Masters, tells the story of “a dance pioneer’s amazing odyssey” (New York Times). About Face: Disrupting Ballet is a feature-length documentary about Asian American dancers who push the ballet world to jettison offensive racial tropes from the stage.
I grew up in Beijing, China and Bucks County, Pennsylvania before moving to New York City. I hold a BFA in dance from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and a BA in journalism from NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute.
